Type 32

Book of 32 original compositions


Type 32 is a hand bound book of 32 original typographic compositions displaying some of the finest typefaces ever designed.

The typefaces are arranged chronologically, with each typeface being used to create a unique composition inspired by an extract from Une petite robe de fête, a novel by French author Christian Bobin which explores words and reading.

The Good

Print, Packaging & Motion


The Good is a short film by Jenny Moylan, a graduate of The National Film School at IADT. The film is about a talented teenage writer whose current circumstances are preventing him from reaching his potential. He is a good person with bad behaviours.

I try to suggest this conflicting situation of good and bad running in tandem across the media of print, packaging design and motion graphics.

Take is a dynamic, direct and assertive approach to addressing the problem of climate change in the local community of Dun Laoghaire—Rathdown.

My aim in developing the Take identity is to propose a strong action word, take, and use it in a bold manner along with other action words which strengthen the message being communicated. This project spans across identity, exhibiton space design & design for print.

Interaction twelve

Conference website


Interaction is an annual conference for interaction designers from all over the world. In February 2012, Interaction twelve is to be hosted in Dublin.

This promotional website was designed to be informative and functional as well as giving a sense of Dublin & the Irish literary culture. The website is rich in content and so the challenge in designing this site was the easy and intuitive navigation of content.

Turning heads. Litteraly

Metro Herald campaign


Turning heads. Litterally. A humorous print campaign for Metro Herald to encourage readers to look at their littering. The proposed campaign consisted of printing the cover of the newspaper upside down to raise awareness and engage readers.

A newspaper wrap and poster campaign followed up the initial confusion of the newspaper being upside down, highlighting Metro Herald as market leaders & environmentally aware.

Unreal

Greeting card design


Unreal greeting cards are inspired by
the notion of fakery, falsehood and lies. The world is full of dishonest, two-faced people, the sort of person who will say one thing to your face, but may be thinking something completely different.

Unreal greeting cards attempt to expose these fake and false people for what they are. I have worked twelve examples of disingenuous situations where someone may give an unreal greeting card, a card that's original message is not the real feeling of the person, the unreal sentiment, with the true feeling later revealed, the real.

 

BOOK DESIGN

Then and Now

Handmade mock-book


Nineteenth century style and design by Jessica Hefland. This handmade mock-book was my first every book design project. It gave me a great feel and passion for book design.

Every element of the book was carefully considered, with a lot of the typographic layouts generated using slow cut & paste methods. Great attention is paid to the consistency of the developed graphic language as well as pristine production values.
